There has been considerations being made to allow high density housing in certain suburbs throughout Auckland recently.

After listening to submissions and debating the pros and cons for passing this law change it has been voted down.

There were changes included in the submission to allow a separate dwelling going 3 storeys high for areas like Takapuna , Remurewa, Point Chevalier , Blockhouse bay just to name a few areas.

I agree that this law change should not be passed as i certainly don,t want to see Auckland becoming squashed in shaking hands with your neighbours through a window.

In my opinion the spread of Auckland should be creating new sub divisions, roading, shops, transportation but moving out and further North and South of Auckland. Areas like Puhio up to Warkworth , Wellsford , Mangawhai areas for instance and south from Pukekoe to Bombay and outwards into more rural areas where land is still abundant .
