Build once and build right with Nicol Renovations. Call us on 09 442 5612 or 021 723 682 to discuss your Auckland bathroom renovation.

Second

Bathroom Fixtures & Fittings

With bathroom renovations we generally encourage our clients to select their own bathroom fixtures, fittings and tapware. This allows you to purchase within your budget: you can spend at the high end, the medium end or the low end, which we do not recommend.

This is a room where it is important to get it right so we always recommend quality fixtures and fittings.

We require all fixtures and fittings to be onsite prior to renovation and building work commencing.

Third

Bathroom Tiles

When it comes to bathroom tiles the choice is yours. We’ll supply you with the quantities required so all you have to do is choose the colour and style.

Phone Rod on 09 442 5612 after hours or 021 723 682 today for more information on bathroom makeovers and to book an obligation free consultation.

Fourth

Project Planning

We supply all the building sub-contractors needed and project manage the whole renovation process from start to finish. Good scheduling is vitally important as bathrooms are generally smaller rooms and several different qualified tradesmen need to work in the same area.

Not everyone can be in there working at the same time. With good scheduling of those tradesmen, we will have your job running smoothly through till completion and your new bathroom will be up and running as quickly as possible.

Our project manager will be in constant contact right through until the completion of your bathroom renovation keeping you well informed of what is happening and when.

If any unforeseen issues arise, we will be in immediate contact with you to discuss your options and our recommendations; we will work with you to keep your bathroom renovation moving forward smoothly.

Fifth

Removal & Construction

We completely remove all bathroom fixtures and fittings, wall linings, ceiling lining if required, and if the flooring is particle board, we replace it with compressed sheet or tanalised H3.2 plywood. We take your bathroom back to a bare shell.

If we replace the particle board flooring, then existing floor joists will be nogged at .400ctrs to form a grid pattern. This is because timber moves with dampness, swelling and then shrinking as it dries.

By forming this grid, the H3.2 tanilised plywood or compressed sheet can be glued and screwed to these joists and nogs to form a rigid brace. This will reduce movement and in turn help prevent the waterproof membrane applied to the floor from splitting or cracking through movement. This ensures the waterproofing does its job.

Solid tongue and groove flooring as you would see in villas and bungalows can still be used but will require a minimum of three coats of polyurethane applied as a waterproof membrane.

Once new preline bathroom plumbing and electrical work  has been completed we can re-line the walls and ceilings. We only use aqualine gibboard or villaboard for wall linings and aqualine gibboard for ceilings in all wet rooms.

Next is waterproofing. We offer a 5 year workmanship warranty and a 15 year product warranty.

Gib-stopping is next. This prepares the surfaces for painting and tiling etc.

A tiler is then engaged and tiling is carried out. If underfloor heating is required this is carried out prior to tiling. Underfloor heating comes with a lifetime undertile warranty and a 5 year warranty on thermostat controls.

Once tiling is completed, the plumber and electrician can come back and finish the final fit of fixtures and fittings.

Glass shower doors or screens can be installed. If a cubicle shower with an acrylic liner is being used, these can be installed prior to tiling.
